Jackie Kennedy Charm Bracelet

Like many teenagers, Jackie began a charm bracelet with some of her favorite charms. Over the years, she would remove a few charms, add a few charms, and would even change the chain. The photo above was taken on September 11, 1953, the day before their wedding. The charm bracelet was worn almost everyday in during their honeymoon. Although we do not know the meaning or origin of each charm we have seen over the years, we do have limited information on two of them. The first is the large round charm with the figure of Hercules on one side, and the Latin words "Non Sumptus Labora Est" on the otehr side. Apparently when JFK once remarked to company on how hard Jackie had been working on his campaign, she replied with this Latin saying which means: Labor is no cost. He later gave her the charm as thanks for her efforts, adding the tongue-in-cheek Hercules. Charms include a coin, the Hercules, a palm fan with 3 CZs, a disc, an engraveable heart and a flower. The bracelet is 7 inches long with a lobster clasp and a 1" extender. The bracelet is 18k gold plated.
